SCULPTURES IN ACTION
MRS. LUCE and DUMONT
4TH GRADE, SMITHFIELD ELEMENTARY
Mr. Chin, elementary art teacher

A 3 dimensional lesson; height, width and depth.  Wire was used for the armature, paper towels and tape for the "muscle mass".   Plaster gauze was use to create the skin.
Focus was that the figure must be in movement.  Guidelines were to have the neck, elbows, hips, and knees slight bent.  This is achieved by bending the 12 gauge wire.  Once the students decided on the action, they tear paper towels and wrap onto the wire.  Next, masking tape was used to "solidify" the tape.  Students embellished their creations with yarn, paint, and cloth.
